Challenge

The Ministry’s IT infrastructure consisted of on-premises, Windows-based workloads running on Hyper-V, needing robust backup and disaster recovery capabilities. Challenges included meeting regulatory demands for scheduled volume-level backups and maintaining minimal downtime during backup and recovery processes. They also required a flexible backup solution that allowed them to selectively back up specific files or directories from their on-premises systems and restore either individual files or entire systems on demand.

Solutions

Cloud4C, leveraging RackWare Management Module (RMM) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, implemented a customized backup solution that safeguarded critical data without migrating the workloads.

The solution began with server preparation and initial capture, with data securely stored on OCI’s block storage. Through real-time incremental synchronization (Delta Sync & Replication), the solution reduced downtime and ensured business continuity. The implementation also leveraged RackWare’s selective sync technology, allowing the Ministry to synchronize specific drives, directories, and files, thereby optimizing recovery point objectives (RPO) and minimizing WAN bandwidth usage. Customizable backup schedules were designed to align with the Ministry’s operational requirements, offering both daily and weekly schedules for maximum efficiency. The solution also provided flexibility in data restoration, enabling selective or full restoration either to the on-premises systems or to OCI, based on disaster recovery scenarios.
