What is Cloud Based Data Storage?

Cloud-based data storage involves storing digital data accumulated on servers in off-site locations.

Cloud data storage allows organizations to store, access, and maintain data on partner managed cloud infrastructure or partner datacenters so that they do not need to have and operate their own data centers, moving expenses from a capital expenditure model to operational. It is scalable, ensuring that enterprises expand or reduce their data footprint depending on requirement.

Types of cloud-based data storage models -

1. Public cloud data storage model

A company that uses public cloud storage keeps its data in the data centers of a service provider, which are also used by other businesses. Public cloud storage data is dispersed over several geographical locations and is provided on a pay-as-you-go or subscription basis.

2. Hybrid cloud data storage model

A combination of private and public cloud storage solutions is known as a hybrid cloud data storage model. Businesses can choose what data to store in which cloud by using a hybrid cloud storage approach. While less sensitive data is kept in the public cloud, sensitive data plus data that needs to adhere to stringent compliance regulations may be kept in a private cloud.

3. Private cloud data storage model

This model enables an organization to make use of its servers and data centers to store data within its own network. Otherwise, organizations can work with cloud service providers to provide devoted servers and private correspondence that are not open to other business entities.

4. Multi-cloud data storage model

If a business employs more than one cloud model from one or more cloud service providers, it means they are using a multi-cloud data storage model. Businesses can opt for a multicloud model if a cloud vendor provides specific apps that they need, or if the organization must store data within a country, or teams are trained on a number of different clouds.
